One day kattappa's grand mother fall as ill and gave him a box of jewels which she had saved with her hard earned money. She told kattappa "Keep this jewels with you and if you have money, girls may marry you." then she died.
Kattappa become more lonely person in the world after death of his grand mother. He got a job in kingdom as soldier. Even though kattappa was not a good looking person he was brave and an excellent warrior. He was more loyal to his king. King personally liked him because of kattappa's talent. Kattappa felt more sad like he was most loneliest person in the world since he cant share his feeling to any one. He went to ganesh temple near to his house.
Kattappa pray to god "Entire world live with their family why me alone left apart? Its all my fate" shouted in anger and cried a lot. Suddenly a old lady voice heard to kattappa, He looked around. A old woman standing beside him says, why your are so sad, marriage is not life. I heard all your prayers if marriage is your problem, i have a grand daughter and you can marry her. Kattappa face got blossomed and asked in shocking voice "Is it true?". Old lady replied "yes you can, but one condition". Kattappa asked what condition?. Old lady said "Kattappa you should not see her face until you marry her". Her grand daughter was in fasting for around 3 years without seeing male to get marry a good person. Kattappa agreed the deal. Kattappa was more happy and gave treat to all his friends. He almost in dream about the girl and her beauty.
On Marriage day, kattappa dressed like a prince. He went to marriage spot alone as per the deal. Old Lady welcomed kattappa and taken him to marriage stage. Old lady tied kattappa's eye with a new yellow cloth. Kattappa asker her "why you tied this cloth in my eyes". Old lady replied as its their traditions to wear a yellow on both bride and grooms face before marriage. Kattappa thought if we got marry its enough , So he agreed for all their doing's.
Voice said " I am ruby, I am your wife Dear!". Ruby started smiling with shame. Kattappa got more anger and shouted at old lady "Why you did like this?. You married me to a rat". Old lady replied to him with smiling face " Cool kattappa! What you asked do you remember?". You requested only for marriage and its also for just sharing your feeling. More over in the world no one like to even sit with you. But this rat agreed to marry you. Kattappa don't compare ruby with other rats. Ruby was rare one. she can speak to you and serve to you.
Kattappa slowly started cool down and think of his life. In lonely world we have a partner to share our feel. Its ok. But his doubt and fear was how he could introduce rat as his wife to his friends and king. Every one will make fun of him, So he was afraid.
Kattappa started walking, ruby followed his legs with her luggage. Kattappa reached home with sad face. Ruby asked him "Oh dear! Don't feel sad. I will be a true wife for you". Kattapped told ruby " See ruby you should not go out without my permission. You are my wife i agree but it should be secret". Ruby replied " Oh Dear! i like your voice. I agreed to your condition. Don't fear and afraid about me Dear!".
Next day ruby cleaned whole house and cooked food for kattappa. Kattappa was surprise to see how a rat could cook food and do all this work. Life gone peace fully for some days. Kattappa slowly recovered from his loneliness and became good friend with ruby.
One evening kattappa retrun home with sad face. Ruby asked kattappa " Oh Dear! why are you so sad?". He replied like "Ruby! my friend's forced me to keep treat in our house". Ruby in happy replied "Really its a great!. Let them come we can give them a great treat Dear!". Kattappa asked " Are u serious Ruby?". Ruby replied kattappa " Dear! Let them come, We can offer them a great dish which they never forgot in life". Kattappa agreed ruby but he was not fully satisfied.
On next day, all kattappa friends come to his house. A great traditional food served to them. Every one felt the taste of the food. All friend forced kattappa to show his wife. Kattappa replied " she was in fasting. she won't see other person other than his husband". All of them thanked kattappa for great treat and enjoyed treat. Kattappa felt happy since no body likes to sit with him, but today every one come to his house and praised his wife. He felt real feel of love with ruby.
King heard the news of the world class food and Kattappa's wife. King got shocked "why kattappa haven't invite me for his marriage?". King called kattappa. Kattappa went to king and said that marriage happen was an accident so he cant invite all of you. King agreed the situation and said " Its ok kattappa but i need to see your wife and i heard your wife will cook a great food. You should bring your wife here for my son marriage". Kattappa refused to king stating that his wife was in fasting and she won't see other persons. King got angry and commanded kattappa "You should bring your wife other wise your head with be cut in to pieces."
Kattappa returned home with sad face. Ruby asked Kattapppa " Oh Dear! why are you so sad?". Katttappa said all the details and king's command. Kattappa told ruby " Whatever happens no problem ruby i love you so i decided to introduce you as my wife. Tomorrow get ready in morning we can go to king's son marriage and i will introduce you to my king". Ruby was happy but at the same time she was feared of people.
Next Morning Ruby dressed like a small angel and kattappa traditional soldier dress. Both started walking. As usual ruby followed the legs of Kattappa. Its was huge crowd. Kattappa looks back at each distance for ruby. Ruby run within the legs of people to follow kattapa leg. At some point Ruby missed kattappa and some one hit ruby with let shouting "Rat!!!!". Ruby was hit with almost lot of legs and injured heavily. At last ruby was thrown by someone from crowd and fell down near a well.
Mean while kattappa was searching ruby in crowd. Ruby was almost in dead state. She prayed god "Oh god i want to leave with my husband. Without me he would die please help me". At the same time kattappa saw a ruby beside a well and started crying "Ruby!!!". Kattappa was so sad and crying by picking ruby in his hand. Suddenly god appears in front of them and cures ruby with their blessings.
Ruby becomes a most beautiful girl in the world. She was such gorgeous and Kattappa was surprised. God replied "Ruby was a rat due to some wicked wording by an old anger priest. Now she came back because of your true love". Ruby requested God to make Kattappa a most beautiful person or make me a rat again. God questioned ruby why?. Ruby replied "Her beauty should not make kattappa feel like a bad. If he becomes beauty he may feel more comfortable with me". God gave their blessing. Kattappa become more beautiful.
Kattappa taken ruby to king and everyone shocked seeing kattappa beauty charming face. Kattappa told all because his wife food. Every one had a happy wedding ceremony. Kattappa felt that he was a most blessed person in the world and let his life more peacefully with his wife ruby.
